Guidelines for conference contributors


Researchers, artists and other experts from the broad area of psychology and music, as well as those from related fields working on issues related to the psychology of music (including, but not limited to, psychological aspects of performance, perception, cognition and the experience of music), are warmly invited to submit a presentation proposal.
Conference contributions include spoken presentations, poster presentations, symposia, workshops, book presentations, and participation through attendance and discussions.
The official language of the conference will be English.
The conference organisers will publish an English e-version/online version of the Abstract Booklet. Conference participants are invited to submit their full-text contributions for the Conference Proceedings (voluntary). An online e-version of the Proceedings will be published in English after the conference. Guidelines for abstract submission are posted below.
Guidelines for submitting an abstract proposal:

Abstracts should be submitted in English at URL by 15 February 2025. The receipt of your abstract will be confirmed by email at the address of the corresponding author.

Contributions can be empirical or theoretical.

Titles should contain a maximum of 150 characters, including spaces.

Abstracts should include up to 500 words, excluding the title of the contribution, the name(s) of the author(s), affiliation(s), and five keywords. Abstracts should also include up to five references.

Types of contribution: spoken presentation, poster presentation, symposium, workshop, and book presentation. Each contributor can submit up to three abstracts, but they can be the first author of no more than two.

The time limit for the presentation and discussion of your spoken paper will be 20 minutes (15 minutes talk + 5 minutes questions and change of presenters). Poster presentations do not have time limits. Symposia might consist of three or four papers with or without introductions and discussions (up to 90 minutes). The duration of book presentations and workshops will depend on the decision of the Organising Committee.

Symposium
A general outline of the session and proposed length (90 minutes maximum) with headings Background, Aims, Contributors, Main Contribution, References, Keywords. Please note that an abstract for each talk is required (using the same structure as for empirical research or theoretical research/review) – more detailed info is included in the template available at URL.
Workshop
Background, Aims, Short outline of activities to be undertaken by presenters/audience, Implications for practice, Specific value of the workshop for the conference, References, Keywords.
Parallel program
Book presentations, special events, etc.: In a paragraph of 250 words, explain the Background, Aims, and Short outline of the activity.
The template at URL provides more detailed information on the abstract structure. You can easily paste the template into the submission form and alter it directly there. Alternatively, you can prepare your abstract in Word by overwriting the text in the template and then paste it into the submission form.
Reviewing procedure
All abstracts will be reviewed in a double-anonymised peer review process. Decisions will be: accept, accept with minor changes, accept with significant changes, and reject. Brief comments from the reviewers will accompany the evaluation.
